Are you male or female: for this question 60% were female and 40% were male.
60% of participants were aged 16-20, with 20% being 20-25, 10% being 25-35 and the remaining 10% being 35+
Do you have an interest in fashion: this was marked 100% meaning that everyone who took my survey had an interest in fashion. This shows that I should add the fashion to my music mag making it appeal to a larger audience.
I asked What does your money usually go on? you could chose between CD's, clothes, DVD's, toys, or other. 70% of people who took part answered clothes. This is another backup to adding the fashion to my magazine, with 20% of the participants answering cd's, and 10% answering other.
The next question was , Do you listen to a specific genre of music, or do you prefer to listen to a whole range? 80% of participants answered A range of music, which means that I should add diferent genres to my magazine to make it interesting for a variety of people.
42% of participants decided they liked to buy fashion magazines over any other. 30% said they bought 'gossip' magazines with the remaining 28% buying music magazines.
I asked Do you have an interest in photography? 35% of participants answered yes, this is a lower perecentage than I thought. But I do not feel my magazine should be conventional, so I will be adding photography into my magazine in the hope that photography would gain more popularity.
Some people buy a magazine every day, every week, every month or maybe once a year. I wanted to find this out and 60% of participants said they bought atleast one magazine every month, with 0 people saying they bought a magazine every day and 10% saying they bought a magazine every week. And the remaining 30% only buying a magazine once a year. This means that I should release my magazine once a month, this means that it is released regularly to keep readers interested.
I wanted to find more information about the look of magazines that were appealing, I asked Which magazine do you think has the best layout? The answers that were available was NME, Q, Dazed and Confused and Grazia. 30% of the audience chose Q magazine, that usually sticks to basic colours, with another 30% chosing Dazed and Confused. 25% chose grazia which has a buy front cover with lots of flash features and the other 15% chosing NME which I feel has too much of a childlike design. I want my magazine to look simple with small design features that stand out.
